What People Say About SkyTruth

Wish you could have been in Pinedale for this corridors conference… We had a packed room of 120 and your Jonah/Pinedale Anticline progression images were used in several powerpoint presentations... Wish you could have heard the "ohh" and murmers as your images flashed up showing how fast and huge the gas development has occurred.

There was an LA Times reporter there and they made impact on her too… So she's asked me to provide her with those images for possible use in the story she's working on dealing with wildlife and oil/gas development conflicts. Will make sure SkyTruth gets credited...

-- Peter Aengst, The Wilderness Society

Photos and visual images make such an impact for our people because many do not read and have difficulty with the English language--many still only speak Cheyenne here.

-- Gail Small, Native Action

We sent out the Jonah and Otero images with a press release recently to regional media, and have stirred a lot of interest. Nothing like a good photo to help a story.

-- Kevin Bixby, Southwest Environmental Center

These maps have been very helpful in our work to show the magnitude of the problems we face in our work to protect the Monument. These images make real the lifeless statistics that we rattle off - it is one thing to say 1000 miles of roads in the Monument, it is very different to show what that really looks like - that is when people understand the implications of such a maze of unplanned roads, routes, trails, two-tracks, scars, etc.

-- Betsy Buffington, The Wilderness Society

I’ve used SkyTruth images in my reports and presentations, providing people with powerful, visual images of what’s actually occurring on the ground, helping me persuade hunters, anglers and others about the impacts of irresponsible energy development on our wildlife, wild places and hunting and fishing opportunities. . . These images have been invaluable in helping me motivate and engage hunters, anglers and others in the protection of our last remaining wildlife and wildlands.

-- Dave Stalling, Trout Unlimited

The pictures of the Jonah field that you've allowed us to use in some of our talks have been unbelievably helpful. The audience is always overwhelmed by the scale of the development.

-- Kim Berger, Wildlife Conservation Society

Great stuff! The pictures don't lie. Skytruth’s aerial photos are worth many thousands of words to convey the impacts of gas development in the Rockies. The time-lapse series are stunning before and after depictions. When I talk to citizens and negotiate with decision-makers, I know that the striking visuals will leave a more lasting impression than anything I say.

-- Mike Chiropolos, Western Resource Advocate

Great job! I'm so glad you are there close to the action. It's amazing that folks back there, especially those close to or involved in the energy industry have no idea what this administration is doing to the great American West!

-- Linda Baker, Upper Green River Valley Coalition

These images are very powerful. May we use them in our Otero Mesa campaign.

-- Kevin Bixby, Southwest Environmental Center

John, thanks so much for your work on this project. When Matt showed me the graphics it was so clear that a picture is worth a thousand (or more) words!
The slides got rave reviews at the Wildlife Society presentation, especially from the presenter, Jack Lyon, who is no slouch. I've no doubt that we'll be finding lots of ways to put your expertise to work in this campaign…

-- Betsy Buffington, The Wilderness Society

Thanks for those photos. They are awesome and exactly what I was looking for… I'd like to send them to everyone I know as well as blow them up for meetings the CBM industry is putting on in our communities next week.

-- Robin McLean, CBM activist in Alaska

You are making a difference, especially for those of us up here in Alaska who have no idea what coalbed methane is doing to the rest of the country!

-- Nina Faust, CBM activist in Alaska

Thanks John, I showed the pics to Jack Lyon (the biologist who did pioneering road/elk studies from the late 70's on and is giving the presentation) and he was very impressed, saying: "basically this says there's a road on every ridge." Perfect.

-- Matt Becker, The Wilderness Society

That is a pretty powerful sequence of images! Congrats on some excellent work!

-- Dr. Timothy Warner, West Virginia University

These are great images.

-- Jim Steitz, Southwest Environmental Center

Your work is awesome.

-- Dr. Joel Berger, Wildlife Conservation Society

The two images of Vancouver Island and the Queen Charlottes were perfectly suited for my use.

-- Richard Charter, Environmental Defense

Those pictures will be extremely useful for the argument to protect the area and I'm really excited about this.

-- Greta Balderrama, New Mexico Wilderness Alliance
