At SkyTruth, our goal is to help people understand environmental issues through satellite and aerial pictures of the landscape. There's been a great advance in technology that we are very excited about: the advent of "virtual globes" like Google Earth and NASA WorldWind. We're harnessing the power (and fun!) of using this technology to provide our visitors with a dynamic, interactive way to explore our satellite and aerial images, and to learn about the issues and places that we're working on.

The first of SkyTruth's Google Earth projects, this file focuses on two of North America's fastest growing gas and oil fields.

As a result of rapid gas and oil exploration the Upper Green River Valley is experiencing habitat loss, animal displacement, and backlash from ranchers, citizens, sportsmen's groups and conservationists alike.

The Upper Green is a vital part of the same ecosystem as Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks.
